Story of Christmas

The Birth Foretold

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21

The Arrival of a King Unlike Any Other

Friends, imagine what people do when a king arrives on earth?

You've probably heard that in ancient times, when a king came: There were lights, trumpets blared, songs were sung, and candles were lit to announce the king's arrival.

But think about it.

On the day the King of Kings was born on this earth, there were no candles, no fanfare. Everything was quiet that night.

Born in Humility

In a stable, a place full of stench and filth, in a place rejected by the world, the King of Kings was born.

And imagine, the world was silent at that time.

It was nighttime, but the sky was joyful.

The stars were shining.

Heaven Rejoices

And imagine, God's angels were rejoicing. God's messengers were proclaiming the good news to the shepherds in that desolate place.

Then the angel said to them:

“Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people, for unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.”
(Luke 2:10–11)

That day, the King of Kings was born on this earth, and He was born into the world as a Saviour.

God Chooses the Lowly

The Lord Jesus Christ chose that humble place for his birth.

He chose the smallest city, Bethlehem.

And similarly, today, when a person is wallowing in filth, from which the stench of sin emanates, the Lord Jesus Christ chooses that person to cleanse them, just as He chose Bethlehem for His birth.

The Light for the Rejected

Consider that today, the world considers certain people lowly and insignificant.

But God chooses the lowly and insignificant people of the world.

Those whom people feel are worthless.

And God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are (1 Corinthians 1:28).

God chooses them so that He may reveal His light in their lives.

The Light of the World

The Lord Jesus Christ is the light of the world, and when we come to Christ Jesus, our lives, which were in darkness, are illuminated.

On Christmas Day, the Lord Jesus Christ not only illuminated this earth. He also illuminated sinful humanity, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

The Gift of Salvation

Come, dear friends, let us celebrate the joys of Christmas, for on this day, Jesus Christ was born for us.

He was born not only for us but for the salvation of the entire universe.

The Bible tells us that there is no other name under heaven and earth by which we can be saved, except for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Conclusion

The birth of Jesus Christ reveals a divine truth that stands in contrast to human expectations: God’s most significant work began in silence, humility, and rejection. From a stable in Bethlehem to the illumination of a darkened world, the Saviour's arrival demonstrates that God chooses the lowly to reveal His glory. Christmas is not merely a celebration of a birth, but a reminder of salvation offered to all—light for the darkness, hope for the rejected, and eternal life for those who believe in the name of Jesus Christ.
