God’s Call to Walk in Faith

The Lord’s Command

  • “Then the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am Almighty God; walk before me and be blameless." (Genesis 17:1)

The Test of Faith

  •  It is impossible to please the Lord without faith. The Bible tells us that our faith will be tested.
  •  There will come a time when it may seem that God’s word is not being fulfilled in your life. Satan may whisper doubts such as:

“Have I truly been healed by taking the stripes of Jesus?”
“Have I really become wealthy by preaching the gospel of Jesus?”

Abraham’s Journey of Faith

Abraham’s life demonstrates what obedience entails. “Then Abram, with his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, went out from Egypt into the south of Canaan.” (Genesis 13:1). He went to the place God commanded without hesitation, even though God did not reveal the whole plan to him. God often keeps His purposes hidden so that our faith may be tested and strengthened.

Abraham did not know where he was going, yet he obeyed God’s command. He left his home, his country, and all his possessions to follow God’s word. This was not easy, but Abraham relied on God’s promises rather than his own understanding. God tested him to see if he was following for blessings or for true devotion. For a time, Abraham was not granted descendants, but his faith grew so strong that he believed his greatest blessing was eternal life in heaven, regardless of whether God gave him earthly rewards.

God’s Covenant and Blessing

The Promise

  • “I will establish my covenant with you, and greatly increase your offspring.”
  •  Abram fell on his face, and God continued:

“Look, my covenant shall remain with you, therefore you will become the ancestor of a multitude of nations.” (Genesis 17:2)

  •  Abram fell on his face as God spoke, and the Lord promised that His covenant would remain and that Abraham would become the ancestor of many nations.

Because of Abraham’s unwavering faith, God blessed him greatly and made him the father of many nations. God shows us that faith will always be tested. Satan may bring troubles, difficulties, and sorrows into our lives, but we must stand firm in faith just as Abraham did. When we endure trials with faith, God’s word will be fulfilled, His blessings will be poured out, and we will return with testimony.

  • Faith will always be tested.
  • Satan may bring troubles, difficulties, and sorrows.
  • Believers must stand firm in faith, just as Abraham did.
  • When faith endures, God’s word will be fulfilled, blessings will come, and testimony will follow.

Conclusion

Abraham’s life is a powerful testimony of faith and obedience. He trusted God even when the path was unclear, leaving behind everything familiar to follow His command. Through trials and tests, Abraham’s faith grew stronger, and God rewarded him by making him the father of many nations.

In the same way, our faith will be tested. Doubts, challenges, and hardships may arise, but standing firm in faith ensures that God’s promises will be fulfilled in our lives. Just as Abraham received blessings through his steadfast belief, we too will see God’s word come alive when we remain faithful. Amen.
